CBD Dosage: How Much Should I Take?

CBD Dosage

If there’s one question we get asked a lot it’s ‘how much CBD should I take?’

With CBD dosage, there is no hard and fast rule. The amount of CBD needed varies from person to person, so there are a few things you should consider. We’ve put together a quick guide for those new to CBD. We hope this helps give you an idea of what to take and when.

Why Take CBD?

People take CBD for several reasons. Early studies have shown there have been some tangible benefits when it comes to pain, anxiety and depression. However, these aren’t the only reasons people take CBD. As we’ve touched on in previous blogs, CBD can help with sleep and pain, as well as being beneficial when using it alongside exercise.

Whatever your reasons for taking CBD, it will take some time to find out what works for you, but there’s a good chance that when you get into a routine, you’ll feel the benefits.

Tip: If you’ve never taken CBD before and you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, talk to your doctor prior to starting.

Keep Track

Whilst it may seem like a bit of a headache, we would advise keeping track of what you’re taking and when. For example, if you take a low dose before bed one night and perhaps a larger dose of higher strength the next time, you can track the effects. Many people find a higher dose has the most benefits.

As a way of finding a dose that’s right for you, try to stay with the same dose for a week, then if you find you’re happy with how you feel, lower the dose by roughly 20mg. If you didn’t find it quite worked as you expected, up the dose in increments. Repeat this weekly and experiment. Try at different times of day and mix things up to find the ideal dosage and routine for you.

Don’t worry too much if you don’t feel anything or if it doesn’t seem to be working. Be consistent, try different methods, doses, and strengths to see what works.

Tips on Working out CBD Dosage

To get an idea of where to start with dosage, here are a few things to think about:

  • Your body weight (balance the dose based on how much you weigh).
  • Why you’re taking it (pain management, anxiety etc.)
  • How you plan to take it and the concentration (for example, oil, gummies, vape).

Our products will tell you how much CBD is in a single serving. For example, our CBD Gummies have 10mg CBD per serving. You can see the dose in each product where it’s possible for us to include it.

Whilst there’s not really such thing as taking too much, the industry recommendation is 70mg per day. As long as you monitor how you feel and it’s not causing any side effects, you can try higher doses. Side effects can include changes in appetite, fatigue, or diarrhoea. As with any supplement, always be mindful of dose and concentration.

The main thing is to get into a habit of taking it consistently to feel the full benefits.

Taking CBD

We’ve touched upon it in the past, but if you’re unsure of your preferred method for taking CBD, experiment! You can mix oil with food, vape, spray, or eat a tasty gummy. Some people like flavoured CBD, some like it without taste. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Pop a drop of CBD oil in tea or a smoothie.
  • Have a quick spray of CBD as you get out of bed.
  • Vape for the fastest way to feel the effects.
  • Simply pop a drop of CBD oil under your tongue and wait 60 seconds before swallowing.

Our advice would be to start with a lower dose and increase as needed. We’re always on hand for advice. Get in touch for more information. We’ll be more than happy to help!
