Baking with CBD: Healthy Banana Bread Oat Bars

Baking with CBD

One of the best things about CBD is how versatile it is. So, if you’re not a vape lover or a drop of oil under the tongue isn’t doing it for you, fear not! Baking with CBD is the next best thing.

Introducing CBD into your recipes will help ease you into cannabidiols in a way that’s accessible for beginners. Perfect if you’re unsure about the flavour or feel of oil in the mouth. Keeping things as simple as possible can help when it comes to managing burnout and curbing unhealthy cravings.

Why not try baking with CBD and trying these banana bread oat bars? The bars are a fantastic way to incorporate CBD into your busy week, while also enjoying a delicious healthy snack – perfect for a quick breakfast on the go.

Banana Bread Oat Bars

The humble rolled oat is an equally versatile beauty; a slow-releasing carbohydrate that has the power to keep you feeling full all day. Oats also have some fantastic nutrients, such as manganese, a mineral that is an essential component in many of the body’s enzymes and proteins.

Oats also help to regulate the blood sugar, perfect for fighting that crash and burn feeling many of us deal with during a stressful week. This makes them a perfect partner for fitting CBD into your routine. Especially when it comes to combatting stress.

  • 3 cups of rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons of plain flour
  • ½ teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/3 cup of dairy-free spread (or 5 tablespoons of coconut or vegetable oil)
  • 1/3 cup of rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup of peanut butter
  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • ¼ cup of demerara sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of oat milk (or non-dairy milk of your choice)
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 40mg of CBD (that’s 4 drops from Lunar CBD Oil 2000mg/20% Natural)

Baking with CBD: Oat Bar Method

  1. The best part of these delicious snack bars is that the method is so simple. As long as your oven is pre-heated to 180 °C (160 for a fan-assisted oven) – everything else just needs to be combined in a mixing bowl.
  1. Lightly brush your baking dish with vegetable oil and line with a piece of parchment paper before pouring in your well-mixed batter.
  1. Finally, bake for 35-40 minutes – until your bars are a beautiful golden brown.
CBD Baking

When it comes to size, appetites will differ, but this recipe has been created using a 24cm lasagne dish, cut into six bars. This gives the bars plenty of room to rise as they bake and roughly equals 5mg of CBD per portion. A perfect dose for a beginner – or if you’re just looking to spread your intake throughout the day.

Although the portion may be divided equally, it’s important to remember that when baking with CBD, the dose may not be as accurately defined as when you’re consuming one of our gummies or a measure from one of our oil droppers directly. So, it’s always best to start off with a smaller amount. You can always build up your dose with one of our other products as time goes on.

Once the bars have cooled for 15 minutes, lift via the parchment paper and place on a cooling rack. When they’re cool to the touch, you’re ready to slice into six portions. They will keep well for about a week if kept in a sealed Tupperware box in the fridge. All that’s left is for you to dip in and enjoy!
